Several for Hollandia Gremio players were in action in an amazing run by the Huskie Alumni team, as they won the first ever gold medal for Saskatchewan in 99 years of Canadian national championships.
Former Hollandia players Mitch Cantin, Jamie Hembroth, Brendan Garrity, Michael Veszi, Steve Irinici, David Brown, Nathan Reis and Jay Tomchuk, all featured in the Championship tournament in Brossard QC over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Garrity was a standout in the solid defensive line, winning numerous headers and tackles when the team was placed under pressure. Steve Irinci scored two goals, Natan Reis scored the important opening goal in the final, while David Brown earned a crucial penalty for the Champions in the final.
Congratulations to coach Stewart Gillott and his team that played a magnificent brand of soccer throughout the tournament.
